One of my favorite verses in the Bible is 2 Corinthians 2:14, "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place." One of the great burdens upon my heart is that people all over the world learn to realize the meaning of this verse. We live in an age of discouragement and trouble where families are suffering and defeated. It seems that even many Christians think that this kind of victory is unattainable. We seem to think that just surviving is enough. God wants more than survivors, He is looking for one that He can demonstrate His magnificent strength through. Let me tell you my friend that victory is well within our grasp as believers in Christ Jesus. I must echo the words of Caleb when he with a heart full of faith said to the doubting people of God as they stood at the borders of the promised land, "Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it." (Numbers 13:30) We need not hesitate even in the 21st century. We are still well able to overcome every problem in life no matter how big they seem. The God that brought the Israelites out of the bondage of Egypt is still the same today and will be the same tomorrow and forever. The answer is the Lord Jesus Christ. It is for this reason I have chosen as our church logo, "Lifting up Christ in Kenora".
It seems the whole world is geared to getting our eyes off of the only one that can give us true freedom and victory. The closer we get to Christ the more victory we will experience on a daily basis. Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." (John 12:32) My purpose as a pastor that preaches and teaches God's Word is to proclaim the message of Jesus to the lost souls and saved souls of our world. Let me encourage you to come and be a part of God's plan for Christians in this age. Experience the victory only Christ can bring. It is my desire to labour with you to achieve that goal for God's glory. "For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake." (2 Corinthians 4:5)
